My life as of late

I've been meaning to write a blog article for awhile now. I've had so many different things that I've wanted to write about, but then when it comes to actually sitting down and doing it? Yeah... Doesn't happen. lol. I guess I just don't know what to say. So for now, I'll just give you a quick rundown of what I've been doing and maybe I'll be able to elaborate on them further if I can find the motivation.

In no particular order:
  • My wife deployed
    • yeah... this sucks... I'm a temporary single parent. Figuring out childcare while working weekends can sometimes be a challenge. I'm still trying to figure out what I'm going to do for the summer.
  • We went to Disneyland
    • Before Lindsay left on deployment, we took a late honeymoon to CA. We visited Lindsay's family in San Jose (I've never been), spent a day in Universal Studios and of course Harry Potter Land! and did four days at Disneyland. I love me some Disneyland. I think the more I go, the more obsessed with Disney I become. I may be planning a trip to Disneyworld.... HAHA
  • I'm getting promoted at work
    • Woohoo! In case you didn't know, I work for the Post Office as a Mail Carrier. I haven't been a career employee but as of May 27th, I will be! That means benefits, raises (finally!) and a set schedule. Super excited about this.
  •  I got a tattoo
    • Technically Lindsay and I got matching tattoos while in CA to celebrate the occasion.
  • I joined Kalo & Co
    • I'm officially a consultant for Kalo & Co and will be doing those crazy pearl parties that are all over Facebook. I honestly just joined because it looked fun but I'm hoping to make a little extra off it.
Well, that's all I can think of for now. I'll try and add additional articles and link to them later. Chat with you later!

Family retreat

Today is tuesday. It's around 6:00 pm and we're watching Greys Anatomy, lounging on the couch. We got back from a family retreat today. I skipped work for the last 3 days for it and pulled gideon out of school yesterday and today. I know it's  the army and plans change, but it was dissapointing. We were originally scheduled to go to Great Wolf Lodge and instead ended up at some random red lion hotel by the airport. That didn't even have a pool. So like I said. Disappointing. I don't want to sound unappreciative. I really am not. It was nice having three days with my family. Just us. But it sucked having nothing to do in our off time. But then again, it's the army. Things change. Sometimes they're disappointing.

Next week we're going to California. San Jose to visit Lindsay's family and then Burbank for Universal Studios, and last but not least, Anaheim for Disneyland. That trip will be make up for all of it. It's going to be an incredible trip. It'll be our late honeymoon trip and early deployment trip. Is it sad that I'm already wanting to plan to save money for Disney world when we get back? Haha. I can't wait.

Bad dreams

I just woke up. Praying... That's never a good sign.

So I was somewhere where there was a person who had been attacking my friends since they were children. Making them drink bleach. For some reason I'm there and I'm not supposed to make myself known. So everyone shows up and the person who is doing this starts manifesting into a demon and come straight for me. Puts their hands on me. I start praying in tongues and saying the name of Jesus, expecting the demon to let go. Then I woke up, still praying... Arms sore and stiff.

I know that I haven't been a very good christian lately. I haven't been going to church or praying like I should. But I'm glad to know, that even when attacked, I still believed completely that Jesus would save me. I haven't had any anointing oil in awhile. I guess i need to find some kind of oil and pray over my room and house tonight.

Yes, I'm one of those crazy Pentecostal Christians who believe in all of that. Lol.

I have to wake up in 10-20 min to take Gideon to school. Not sure that I can go back to sleep... I'm a little freaked out right now.

*side note. Gideon is sleeping in my room tonight and I just woke him up writing on my phone. He asked what I was doing and I told him I had a bad dream. He said "I had a good dream! I dreamed I was the leader of the power rangers. The red one!  I'm glad he has such sweet dreams. Especially when I wake up terrified.

Surprise Christmas card swap

Today I made a card for a surprise Christmas card swap I'm in. Hopefully you like it as much as I do.

I got my inspiration from Patty's Stampin Spot. I also used Stampin Up's Snow much Fun for the christmas tree and the saying was off a random Christmas tag set I got at Michaels or Hobby Lobby. I also added Crystal Effect to the white on the mittens. Hopefully it'll be a touch of a something extra on there.

Changes

Well things have changed...

Last time I wrote I was trying to get pregnant with my husband whom had just had a vasectomy reversal. A year of trying and that didn't happen :/ Now we're separated and it is what it is. I'm ok with it.

Currently looking to find somewhere to move with a good friend of mine. It's a struggle. We found somewhere that we thought was being fixed up and planned on renting that but I think our expectations were different. So we backed out. Now I need to find somewhere and I need to be out by the 15th. Not quite sure what i'm going to do yet. Need to find somewhere new quick. Until then, I need to either put my stuff into storage or my friend's apt until we find something.

I guess I need to change my header pic and all that. Figure out my life. Currently i'm sitting in a room, surrounded by boxes that need packed and watching a tv show on my one day off after 12 days of work and i'm relaxing. I searched all day for a house and now i'm relaxing. Feeling guilty about it. But relaxing. lol. Felt the sudden urge to write. So here I am.

Wish me luck.

Surgery success!

It's been one month and a few days since my hubby had his vasectomy reversal surgery. (If you want to get caught up with our story, check out the fertility label on the right side of the page.) I had read about people scoping at home in my group on babycenter for vasectomy reversals and at first I thought it was really strange. I knew I would never be one of THOSE people. Then I kept reading about people doing it, hubby had his surgery, and I got curious! He doesn't have his official SA until 3 months out so I wont know anything until then, and it's killing me! I mentioned it to hubby and he thought it was really weird. Then after his surgery he mentioned he was curious too. I took that as my ok, but don't spend money. lol. I found someone who happened to have a microscope that they didn't mind me borrowing and decided to try it out! At this point, I know his odds of having actual swimming sperm, is very low. I just wanted to see pieces, even dead. Just to know SOMETHING was getting through. Well we scoped, and guess what?! There was moving swimmers!

I took a video of it and while it's not the greatest video, I thought I'd share. I seriously just took my camera and zoomed it in on the microscope to see what I could see. You only see a very small portion of what I could see and it also didn't always focus correctly, but you could see them moving. It almost looked like fishes. lol.

In case you're curious, (you know you are!) I thought i'd add the video for your enjoyment ;)

Pirate charm swap

As most of you know, I am fairly new to sewing. Well, I used to sew with my grandma when I was little but just recently got a sewing machine of my own and have been trying to actually use it! Last Christmas, a friend of mine did a holiday charm swap that I participated in, which was a completely new thing for me. We basically all swapped holiday fabric, 2 styles, 1 yard each and then mailed it to her where she then divided it up and sent it back out. It was a great way to get a ton of different quilt blocks easier then if I had tried to buy it all separate. Definitely cheaper too.

While working on changing my son's bedroom set into pirate themed, I thought how fun it would be to have a pirate quilt! So now i'm hoping to find people interested in participating in a pirate themed charm swap so that I can do that. Because i'm new to hosting and i'm concerned about finding enough participants, i'm going to leave the sign ups open for 3 weeks, with an additional two weeks to mail fabric. If by some miracle I have a ton of people interested, I may include alternates to possibly make the group larger as well.

Details:

  1. Please sign up by  May 17th, and have all fabric mailed by May 31st. This should give you time to find fabric, and cut it in time.
  2. You will need to include a prepaid, self addressed stamped envelope along with the charms when you mail them to me. Using a bubble envelope is advised to make sure that there are no tears in packaging, but it's up to you.
  3. Put your fabric in a ziploc bag and include an index card with your name and email address. Also stack your fabric, alternating, to make it easier on me while sorting.
  4. There will be 28 participants who will all need to find 2 different styles of fabric, 1 yard each.  Please find something pirate themed for the first yard and for the second, use an accompanying color fabric.
  5. Fabric must be quilt shop quality fabric. No Joanne's or Walmart, etc.
  6. Please cut 5x10 charm squares; you can get 28 to a yard. This will leave you with larger pieces that you can cut down to 5x5 if you want or leave it as is. More flexibility that way to use it how you would like. Everyone will receive 1 charm of each fabric back; which will be equal to the two yards originally sent.
  7. Fabric must be new, unwashed, and come from a smoke free environment.
  8. Upload pictures of your fabric to the swap Flickr group and include the name of the fabric, designer, etc. This ensures that there are no duplicate fabrics chosen and allows everyone to find out more about the fabrics in case they would like to order more once they have received their charms.

Thank you for checking out my charm swap! Hopefully this will be successful and I can do more in the future :)
